About the Course
This course is designed for scientists and engineers as well as technical and non-technical salespeople who have the basic knowledge of filtration and separation but need to gain knowledge in the filtration of liquids using cartridge filters. This short course will cover the basic principles of cartridge filtration, provide a general overview of the different commercially available cartridge filters, and discuss chemical compatibility and fundamental equations and sizing of cartridge filtration systems. Course attendees will leave with a better understating of the cartridge filtration market and have the knowledge to properly specify and size the most cost-effective cartridge filters for liquid process applications.
Learning Objectives
Attendees will learn the following:
• A General Overview of Filtration Mechanisms
• Basic Filtration Principles for Liquid/Solids Separation using Filter Cartridges
• Filter Particle Removal Ratings: Nominal, Absolute, Filter Efficiency and Beta Ratio
• How to Maximize the Life of Filter Cartridges
• Liquid Cartridge Filter Construction & Design
• Understanding of Where Cartridge Filters Fit in the Liquid/Solids Separations Market
• Fluid and Particle Properties that Impact Cartridge Filtration and Measurement Techniques
• Key Types of Liquid Cartridge Filters and Equipment
• Cartridge Filter Selection and System Sizing
• Cartridge Filter Test Methods
Although the contents of this course are specific to solid/liquid separation using cartridge filters in industrial fluid process applications, the principles and knowledge gained can be applied to other liquid filter applications.
Please note membrane filtration is not covered in this course.
Who Should Attend
Filtration application engineers, research engineers and scientists.
